Korean Language Classes

Well, I finally did it. I signed up for Korean language lessons. They will begin when I return from my vacation to Oregon on April 3. The cost is about $8 per hour. That's about average for classes like this around here.

I had to take a placement test, which was a joke. The material was too advanced for me. I can read the Korean alphabet, recognize a few common words, read the menu and get around on the subway just fine. I can say a few useful phrases as well. Other foreigners tell me my language skills are good for the amount of time I've been here.

With these classes, I'm sure I will learn much quicker. I've been using a book I bought on my own and have had trouble understanding the grammar. I'm definitely ready to commit some time to learn.

I hope to have a solid foundation of conversational Korean skills by the end of my 2nd year here. There are so many people and experiences that are waiting to be discovered through the use of the Korean language.
